As a child I could never understand why there was so much sickness, sin, and worry in the world. I told my Sunday School teacher that I wished I had lived in the time of Christ Jesus and could have talked to him about it. When I spoke of it to the minister of the church of which I later became a member, his answer was, "Some day we shall understand."

Then one day a neighbor invited me to go to a Christian Science lecture. What I heard at that lecture answered my questions. I was familiar with the Bible, but now I began to study along with it the textbook, Science and Health. I soon saw that Christian Science is entirely consistent with the words and works of Christ Jesus, our Way-shower. I learned that sin, disease, discord, and death are not real and that their seeming reality can be destroyed through prayer as taught in Christian Science.

I am grateful for all the healings I have had through the application of Christian Science. These were healings of such conditions as colds, sore throat, pain in one arm and the chest, and skin irritation. Some of these were very quick, and some were not; some were accomplished through my own work and others through the work of a Christian Science practitioner.
