For many years the Bible was a closed book to me, for it seemed contradictory. But one day a very dear friend told me that I would find that for which I was searching in Christian Science. The very next Sunday I attended a service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Here I learned that God is not the author of discord and strife, but that He is loving and just, a Father to all who put their trust in Him. I began at once to study this Science.

Not long after that I had an outstanding healing which I attribute to the reading and the studying of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. At the plant where I worked, it was a "must" for all employees to wear safety glasses while at work and to submit to an examination to determine whether or not corrective lenses were necessary.

After one examination eighteen years ago I was told that I should prepare to live in a world of darkness because of a cataract on the pupil of each eye. I was not at all fearful, but, rather, felt secure in the knowledge of God as "a very present help in trouble," as the Psalmist declared (Ps. 46: 1). This verse of the ninety first Psalm also gave me assurance (91:11): "He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
