Activities for the Armed Services
A serviceman who traveled to Berchtesgaden, Germany, from Asmara, Eritrea, to attend a conference for Christian Science service personnel, their families, and civilians working for the United States Armed Forces, writes: "This activity is of unquestionable value to Christian Scientists in military service overseas. This is the first contact I have had with Christian Scientists since leaving the United States. It helped me greatly."
A total of two hundred and fifty-six people registered for the conference, which extended from October 19 to October 23,1959. They came from England, France, Italy, North Africa, Turkey, and Eritrea. A retired Chaplain and an Army Chaplain, both Christian Scientists, arranged for the conference and served as its moderators.
