Prayerful Support Assures Activity

A Christian Science Reading Room is much more than just a place where books may be purchased, borrowed, or read. Indeed, it offers to all who are ready to receive it the healing and redeeming message of Christian Science as revealed by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and recorded in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings. This message transforms the thinking of the visitors, and consequently their lives, resulting in new and continued blessings.

Spiritual qualities reflected in the thought and attitude of the librarian have an important part in the daily activity and success of the Reading Room. To be sure, deep appreciation of what is available to the visitors is essential, as well as much love for God and man. Working from this standpoint, librarians have had many rewarding experiences.

For instance, "The object of the Monitor," writes our Leader, "is to injure no man, but to bless all mankind (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 353). In this connection a librarian writes:
