As a child I had been labeled...
As a child I had been labeled delicate and was under the continual surveillance of physicians. Among the ailments from which I suffered was chronic asthma. This disease grew in intensity until I was almost constantly confined to bed, becoming steadily weaker as material remedies offered only brief and temporary aid.
Finally, when experiencing a particularly vicious attack and feeling that this would surely be the last my body could stand, I picked up Science and Health which my mother had placed by my bed. I could not distinguish one word from another; but I kept trying to read, and I prayed to God to help me.
Suddenly two sentences seemed to stand out from the page in bold relief. They are on page 393, where Mrs. Eddy writes: "Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man."
