MAN REFLECTS THE DIVINE NATURE

Christian Science heals, regenerates, and elevates character, and this Science is in accord with the teachings of the great Metaphysician, Christ Jesus. The glorious import of Jesus' mission was to reveal the true nature of man, God's image and likeness. The Master expressed in highest degree the divine nature. He pointed to God as the source of the healing power with which he consistently healed the erroneous conditions that confronted him. He left his example for all mankind to follow.

Jesus expressed the Christ. The Christ is not a person but the divine nature of God expressed through all of His ideas. In a simple analogy, Mary Baker Eddy presents this all-important truth. She says in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 344), "If we say that the sun stands for God, then all his rays collectively stand for Christ, and each separate ray for men and women."

In the light of this truth, we see that it is as natural for man to reflect the qualities that emanate from the one perfect Mind as it is for a sunbeam to reflect the light which goes out from the sun. That which does not exist in divine Mind can no more be expressed by Mind's reflection, man, than a sunbeam can express anything unlike the sun. And just as a sunbeam reflects the inexhaustible light and radiance of the sun, just so the image and likeness of God reflects uninterruptedly the eternal freshness of Love's radiance, strength, and harmony. Man is at one with God's infinitude.
