THE POWER OF LOVE

In order to understand God's love one must reflect it. One who entertains in his thought qualities unlike God does not feel His love. The more one expresses selflessness, gentleness, and similar qualities, the more conscious he is of God as ever-present Love. Reflecting divine Love brings to light the true sense of health, for true health is the consciousness of harmony.

Greed, avarice, envy, jealousy, selfishness, hate, and fear keep one from being conscious of God, good. But they disappear before the understanding of good as substance, as ever-present, ever-active, inexhaustible Love. Hate is dispelled to the degree that one learns and properly applies the truths that God, Love, is the animating Principle of the universe. Keeping this in thought one is able to see man as the idea through which divine Love is made manifest. Then one grasps the fact that he is in reality the idea of God, the man whom God loves.

Fear arises from the false belief that matter is the life and substance of man and that the conditions of matter determine his being. But divine Love is the Life and substance of the real man and the real universe. Divine Love is not in matter, and matter is not in divine Love. God, Spirit, is All-in-all. Hence matter is not real, and it has nothing to do with man's being. Seeing divine Love as our Life, our substance, we rise superior to the mortal beliefs which are the cause of fear.
