Before I heard of Christian Science, I suffered from acute ulceration of the stomach which was pronounced incurable by the doctor.

A very dear friend spoke to me of Christian Science and showed me how to study the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly. I then asked a relative to call at a Reading Room for me and borrow the Christian Science textbook. As soon as I commenced to read the first pages of this wonderful book, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, I knew I had found that for which I had been searching. I then purchased the textbook, and since then I have consistently read the Lesson-Sermon each day.

Although I was improving, I later had an attack of the stomach condition in a very severe form; so I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. I immediately gained relief, but I did not then receive a complete healing. However, I knew I would be healed. There were many lessons for me to learn before I saw clearly the illusory nature of the material body and realized that I must cast out of my consciousness resentment and self-pity, which tend to disable the body.
