LOVE DESTROYS FEAR OF ATOMIC THREATS

"Atomic age" and "atomic force" are fearful words often uttered these days, sometimes in appeals for sky watchers and air raid wardens and at other times in announcements of increased production of destructive nuclear instruments.

Mary Baker Eddy, in a collection of her writings entitled "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," refers to the ubiquitous spiritual atmosphere that can mean security from all so-called threats. She writes (p. 158), "We live in an age of Love's divine adventure to be All-in-all." Through prayer and earnest striving, we can demonstrate that in the allness of spiritual consciousness we are safe.

With thought filled with divine Love, one need not fear atomic or any other threatening action. God and His likeness, man, are never in jeopardy. However, thinking about safety is not enough; it must be scientifically sought and proved. It requires a progressive abandonment of materiality for the understanding of spiritual reality. The anti-Christ would make anxiety and insecurity real, but all who sincerely seek the infinite find in God, good, an unfailing bulwark of the true security of spiritual understanding, revealed through Christian Science.
