For the many blessings which...
For the many blessings which members of my family and I have received through the study of Christian Science, I should like to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude. I am a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School, and I should like, at this time, to tell of a healing which I experienced soon after applying for membership in The Mother Church.
I was on my way home from school when I tripped over a piece of broken cement and fell, hitting my ankle sharply against a nearby parking meter. Before getting to my feet, I declared these truths from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 2): "God is Love," and (p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive."
However, I seemed unable to keep from limping. I called a Christian Science practitioner, who immediately took up prayerful work for me. She gave me a citation to study and remember (ibid., p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."
The next morning I was able to walk without limping. That afternoon I took my ballet lesson, which required strenuous exercise. I was entirely free. I think that I shall never forget the joy which was mine after the healing had taken place. Many times I have thought of it, and each time it seems to hold some new significance for me.
One morning an ugly condition on my eye disappeared soon after I had read the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly. An uncomfortable growth on the sole of my foot had troubled me for many months, but it fell away as I recognized my divine birthright as God's perfect, immortal idea.
I should also like to express my deep appreciation for membership in The Mother Church, which is ever a great joy and inspiration to me. For Christ Jesus, the Way-shower for Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader, and for Christian Science, the divine Comforter, I am most sincerely grateful.— (Miss) Elaine R. Follis, Quincy, Massachusetts.
