That I am here today is testimony...
That I am here today is testimony to the healing power of Christian Science. As a lad of about twelve years of age, I sank, unconscious, to the bottom of a pool at the country club in one of our southern cities. From five to seven minutes elapsed, so I was later told, from the time I was last seen till the time I was found at the bottom of the pool.
A doctor who was known to be on the golf course was called. No. sign of life was evident, and he said, "I think it is no use, but I will do what I can." Artificial respiration was attempted, but with no sign of life resulting.
No other Christian Scientists were in the group, and I was taken to the hospital. On the way, my consciousness returned, and I am told that I was heard to mumble, "God is Love." It had been my privilege to be a student in the Christian Science Sunday School from the age of about six years.
