DIVINE EVIDENCE

Everyone who expresses integrity, unselfed love, justice, or intelligence has evidence right within his own consciousness that God is the Mind of man, as Christian Science reveals. The brain, or mortal mind, cannot produce any such evidence, for matter possesses no moral or spiritual element; neither can it think.

Godlike qualities are divine evidence of a sonship that is the reflection of the one Father and inseparable from that infinite, sustaining source. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Retrospection and Introspection" (p. 57): "Man shines by borrowed light. He reflects God as his Mind, and this reflection is substance,—the substance of good." Every impulse of genuine good which one feels, should be treasured as the substance of real manhood and as evidence of a unity with God that can never be destroyed. Then when discordant situations arise, one can see that they are evidence of a mind that has no real existence. Inharmony can always be discarded and only the evidence of God's existence accepted.

Reflecting Mind, man reflects all the qualities of Mind in their pristine purity, and thus man is found to be the image and likeness of God—a spiritual being, neither human nor mortal. When one expresses some measure of spiritual characteristics, which are his by reason of divine order and right, he proves that he is not altogether asleep in a dream of matter and mortality. He is able to awaken further, knowing that evidence of evil or of limitation is completely false, the flimsy Adam heritage, which is common to humanity.
