Church Dedications

Clarinda, Iowa (First Church).

Dedication of the new edifice here of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Clarinda, has been set for Sunday, September 23, at 3 p.m.

... The church was founded here in 1917 when a small group of students of Christian Science met in [a private home] ... to hold their first services. They continued to hold services there until, in 1920, ... a Clarinda lawyer invited them to meet in his office. At that time officers were elected, and a Christian Science Society [was organized]. Official recognition was given this society by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1924.
