LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

Will you kindly grant space to clarify a statement made in your paper [recently] which troubled some of your readers. In the column headed "Rods and Rivets" the writer includes the name of Mary Baker Eddy with several others whom he accuses of "tearing down, revolutionizing and fomenting eternal discord."

Your columnist gives no reasons, nor does he quote any authority for his unusual evaluation of the work of a great religious leader. I am sure many of your readers know that Mrs. Eddy discovered Christian Science, a religion [which is in accord with] the Bible, wrote the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," founded The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, provided for the government and progress of the Christian Science churches [societies and college organizations] and the activities of The Christian Science Publishing Society.
