"Unto thee, O God, do we give...

"Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare" (Ps. 75:1). With these words I wish to express my deep gratitude for divine Mind's wonderful guidance, for the unique help Christian Science gives to men, and for the wonderful work of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

While on a hike in the mountains in October, 1955, I was privileged to experience most remarkably the loving ministration of Christian Science. I was staying in a guesthouse under the management of Christian Scientists, and from there I had set out on a hike in the mountains. Being somewhat unfamiliar with conditions in the mountains, I did not realize that darkness and mist, which may come very early in the evening in those high altitudes, might cause me great difficulty.

On the way back to the guesthouse I realized that I had never been this particular way before. When I reached a low-lying valley where it was already dark and foggy, the following words of the twenty-third Psalm came to me as Mrs. Eddy has interpreted them on page 578 of Science and Health: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for [LOVE] is with me."
