MEETING IN MIND

In these days of troubled diplomacy, the nation's leaders are seeking in every way possible to obtain a meeting of minds in order to preserve the peace of the world. Their efforts have been mainly along human lines. In the Bible we find an instance of a meeting of the apostles. We read (Acts 2:1), "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place." As a result, perfect understanding of God's divine message and purpose came to them, and as they voiced it, it was heard by the multitudes in the native tongue of each one.

Christian Science shows how such spiritual comprehension may be achieved today. Through its teachings, God is revealed to be the only Mind, which man, who is made in God's own image and likeness, reflects and expresses. Christ Jesus explained this reflection, saying (John 5:19), "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."

How different from the concept of the one Mind, which Christian Science presents, is the concept that each individual has a mind separate from God and that this mind originates its own thinking. In the limited concept of mind, there are bound to be divergencies of opinions and difficulties arising from time to time in the endeavor to reach agreements and wise decisions. Only in the reflection of the one Mind can unity be found.
