Some years ago I took a position as manager of an insurance agency, whose offices were located in a branch office of the company it represented. This put the agency in close contact with much of the personnel of the branch office.

Soon after I took the position, I began to experience frequent headaches. These were so severe that I would have to go to bed for the rest of the day. When the frequency of the headaches increased to the extent that they were causing me to lose two or three days of work a week, I called on a Christian Science practitioner for help.

Soon after the practitioner began treating me, my employer, who was also a student of Christian Science, told me confidentially that in my eagerness to be a success in the new position, I had been riding roughshod over the employees of the branch office, thus incurring their hostility. He said that there was much ill feeling toward me, and he asked me to work to correct this situation. This criticism was given lovingly and courageously.
