LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

In a recent issue of your valued paper appears the report of the anniversary of the Glusburn Baptist Church, during the course of which the principal speaker referred to the teachings of Christian Science as neither Christian nor scientific.

Surely a religion which is based wholly on the teachings of Christ Jesus, which makes dear the spiritual meaning of the Scriptures, is Christian? Every member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, subscribes to its Tenets, the last one of which reads, "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be mericful, just, and pure" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 497). Further, Christian Science requires its adherents to be active in obeying all the commandments of Jesus, including healing the sick.
