In the Bible we read (Ps. 138: 8), "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands." My first healing in Christian Science was that of constipation. While visiting a sister, I used to take my medicine with me and put it on the sink. One day she asked kindly, "Are you ever going to give up your medicine?"

Later, when this same sister was about to pay me a visit, my first thought was that I must dispose of the medicine. Then the thought came to me, "Why don't you throw it all away?" When I did just that and relied on Christian Science, I got my healing. That was over forty years ago. The seed was sown at that time, but it was not until fourteen years later that I became an earnest student of this Science.

I am also grateful for a healing of food poisoning. For two days I suffered severe pain. My husband telephoned a Christian Science practitioner to give me help. The practitioner came to the house. She sat beside the bed and read aloud to me the Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, after which she gave me a treatment. As a result of that treatment I was healed within a few hours. That same evening I arose, dressed, and was at my place as an usher in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
