I am very grateful that through our study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we can turn to God with our first conscious thoughts each morning. The day belongs to God, and as we identify ourselves with Him, we feel protected and safe in His care. I have always liked this promise in the ninety-first Psalm: "His truth shall be thy shield and buckler." And more than once I have proved this statement to be true.

One day workmen came to apply sulphuric acid to some tree stumps. I was standing about eleven feet away when one of the workmen applied the acid, and he chopped the stump with an ax so that the acid could penetrate deeper. 'There was a strong wind blowing in my direction, and some of the acid struck me in the face.

When I purchased the acid, the druggist told me that it was very powerful and warned me about getting it on my flesh. I had instantly denied that there was more than one power. However, now that my face had started to burn, I remembered the druggist's warning; and I began to be fearful. Immediately the thought came that I was giving error power by being afraid.
