After hearing a few interesting remarks by a Christian Scientist and after asking a few questions on the subject, I procured a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Every word, every page, seemed illumined. I knew that this was what I had wanted all my life; it was like coming home. From that day to this, over fifty-one years later, I have never doubted the truth of one single line in our textbook.

Like the woman in the Bible, I had "suffered many things of many physicians" (Mark 5:26). I had had two major operations and various illnesses. After reading the textbook for a very short time, I visited a Christian Science practitioner. I went to see her every day for a week, and before the end of that time, I discovered that headaches and backaches, which had resulted from the operations, had completely disappeared. I had better health than I had had in years.

Several years ago a mist came over my eyes. However, I am grateful that I was alert enough to begin prayerful work immediately as we are taught to do in Christian Science. I did not try to heal physical eyes or establish material sight, but I did pray earnestly for spiritual vision, spiritual discernment.
