Activities for the Armed Service

Alaska

Today Alaska is well known not only because of its being the prospective forty-ninth state, but because of the DEW Line, WHITE ALICE System, and Air Control and Warning sites, which are the ears and eyes of our front line of defense. Christian Science service personnel are stationed at these remote locations as well as at the large Armed Forces installations in Alaska. Through Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services, these men are being remembered and aided through the love of The Mother Church.

Gift subscriptions for The Christian Science Monitor are now going to thirty-seven of these far-distant sites, thanks in part to the generosity of individual church members. Personnel at these locations are hungry for good reading material. The Kotzebue station reported that the Monitor is the only newspaper it is receiving.
