TRUE SUCCESS

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Almost every young person desires to achieve success in some line of endeavor. In the Bible is a beautiful success story of a young Hebrew lad named Joseph, who attained a position of highest power in a foreign land solely through expressing such Godlike qualities as wisdom, unselfishness, patience, justice, and trustworthiness.

Some may say that a story told in Genesis is not very applicable to the pressing problems in today's age of atomic energy and cold war. Yet the mortal mind arguments of hate, jealousy, injustice, disappointment, and frustration which presented themselves to Joseph must be overcome today too, although the outward circumstances may be different. After all, it is not mere physical skills or certain mental processes which will bring us true success, but the spiritual qualities which we express as we maintain our oneness with God as His reflection. These attributes are as important to an employer as are our mere physical qualifications for a position, and sometimes they are more so.

Sold into slavery by jealous brothers when but a youth, separated from everything dear to him in the way of family, home, and occupation, nevertheless Joseph did not despair, and his goodness and purity of thought blessed his entire life.
