LAURA LEARNS LOVE'S CARE

[Of Special Interest to Children]

As far back as they could remember, Laura and her brother Danny had been going to the Christian Science Sunday School. There they learned to understand their true being as children of God; so they knew they could always look to their ever-present Father-Mother Love for guidance.

In the summertime they took swimming lessons, and they looked forward to their daily trip to the pool. The beginners and intermediates were assigned to the shallow end of the pool, where they could touch the bottom with their toes. There they learned confidence and were soon able to float and swim a little. But those who were able to swim well enjoyed races and games in the roomy, deep end of the pool.

All the children looked forward to the day when they could move into the deep end, where the better swimmers had such fun and freedom. Each week a few were moved into the advanced group. But before anyone was put into this group, he had to pass a test. He had to go down to the far end of the pool and slide into the water where it was eight feet deep. Then he had to swim the length of the pool without so much as touching a finger to the side or a toe to the bottom. Danny was already in the advanced group, and he wanted to share the fun with Laura, who wanted to be able to be with him, too. So one day she went down to the deep end and slid in. The sixty-foot pool looked very long to Laura.
