WHAT WE ARE COMING TO!

Ephesians 4:13

What are we coming to?
The desperate question,
Asked without hope
Of any answer, rolls
Mechanically off the tongue.
Yet there is an answer.
A good answer.

What are we coming to?
Isaiah knew—
Liberty to captives,
Beauty for ashes.
The oil— the consecration—
Of joy for mourning.
It was clear to him.

Paul put it in a letter
To the faithful at Ephesus,
To those who were "quickened"
Out of trespasses and sins;
A letter to tell all of us—
To "the measure of the stature
Of the fulness of Christ."
