Many years before I took up the study of Christian Science, my mother, who was not a Christian Scientist, but who knew of it, taught me the "Daily Prayer" given in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy (Art. VIII, Sect. 4): "'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!" I used this prayer daily, and I feel that it was through its uplifting influence that I was finally led to the study of Christian Science.

When I came into Science it was not for healing, but for a satisfying religion. I began by attending a Church of Christ, Scientist, occasionally, and finally I decided it was the church I wanted to be affiliated with. My progress in Science was slow at first; but as I proved its healing efficacy in my daily problems, my study became more systematic, and I began to make more progress.

When I turned to a practitioner for the healing of a severe cold. I was freed instantaneously. I did not know how this healing was accomplished, but it convinced me that Christian Science does heal. A little later a sprained wrist was healed in just a few days. The practitioner referred me to the statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 393), "Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have no pain nor inflammation." I was able to type without any sense of pain after my visit to the practitioner, and within a week the swelling and discoloration vanished.
