Pupils in Assembly

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, arranged the exercises for our Sunday School. They are so planned that children of all ages, from the little ones to those approaching the withdrawal age of twenty, unite in the opening and closing exercises. Thus the session begins and ends with the children taking part as one body.

Together the children sing from the same Christian Science Hymnal that is used by their elders in the church services. The subject of the weekly Lesson-Sermon, given in the Christian Science Quarterly, as well as the Golden Text and Responsive Reading, is the same as that which is being read in the church service. The Lord's Prayer is also repeated in the Sunday School, but without the spiritual interpretation, given in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy (pp. 16, 17), and used in the church service.

Afterward, in order to meet the human need and so that they may be instructed in accordance with their ability to understand the simpler teachings of Christian Science, the pupils are classified as to age or according to their grade in school.
