"To those leaning on the sustaining...

"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," writes Mary Baker Eddy in the first lines of the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." My life has been so blessed by Christian Science that I should like to tell of God's healing, guidance, and protecting care.

During our son's first year, a physical condition manifested itself which was quite disturbing to my husband and me. Although not diagnosed, it would probably have been called a rupture. We clung steadfastly to the truth that the boy was in reality God's perfect child. With the help of a practitioner, the child was healed in a very short time. At no time did he appear to suffer any discomfort. How rewarding it is to put our full trust in God!

One day I was particularly conscious of God's loving care. Our son, who was about two years old, was playing on the back lawn under a large tree. I came out to water the flowers, and he moved from the tree to a spot near me. Suddenly, with no warning, a huge limb fell to the ground and landed right where the child had been playing just a few moments before. How grateful we were for this loving protection!

I am so thankful for all the periodicals. There is always a message of fresh inspiration when we turn to them for help. Before we started out to look for a home, we read an article in the Sentinel on the subject of finding one's right place. Although we had listed quite a number of homes to look at, we were at once led to one in a desired location which we liked so well that we decided to purchase it that day. It has since proved to be all that we had hoped.

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and I am thankful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us the practical truth, which we can use daily. For supply, which has come in many unexpected ways, for all the loving work of the practitioners, and for the Sunday School, which our son is privileged to attend, I am sincerely thankful.—(Mrs.) Eleanor Courtney Spence, Baltimore, Maryland.
