Mrs. Eddy says on page 393 of Science and Health: "Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man."

Some time ago I was faced with a problem that made it necessary for me to prove that "Mind is the master of the corporeal senses." It was a time for me to take possession of my body, govern its feeling and action, and resist that which was unlike good. Intense pain arising from an eye difficulty held me in such bondage that I was unable to hold my thought to the truth. A Christian Science practitioner worked for me very earnestly.

Then my husband and I decided that it would be best for me to go to the Christian Science Benevolent Association is San Francisco, California. When I got there, I knew I was in God's care, for I had such a sense of being surrounded by Love. It became clear to me that God, the only cause and creator, could not create pain or discord of any kind. I knew too that as God's reflection I could not know anything that God did not know. If God did not know pain, then it could not be real. All through the long nights, I repeated the hymns I knew, the twenty-third and ninety-first Psalms, the Lord's Prayer, and truths from Science and Health.
