THE SUPREME ADVENTURE
There is one adventure which is certain of fulfillment, and that is the adventure of knowing and understanding God. This assurance is given us in the words of the Master (Matt. 7:7, 8), "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
Healing will certainly follow if the search for and understanding of God is our foremost aim and endeavor. But if we want mainly to use God to get healing, supply, or material happiness, then we are not actually pure in heart. We have to be cleansed of all desire for material gifts in order that we may find the Giver of all good.
Since God is all that actually exists, it is strange and even astounding that we should expect to find happiness in something besides God. To try to do so amounts to wanting to find good in the nonexistent. So long as this is done, we are being deceived and need to awaken from the delusion.
