In my experience in Christian Science . . .
In my experience in Christian Science I have discovered two facts, namely that this Science is completely practical in our everyday living and that it heals us morally and physically, if we put into practice what we study. Is it any wonder that Christian Scientists come to have an overwhelming sense of gratitude to God for the truth?
Many persons seek Christian Science because of a definite need for healing physical distress. In my case, however, I was in good health when Christian Science came into my life. I was asked by a sister, with whom I was visiting, to attend a Christian Science lecture. Somewhat reluctantly I accepted, and I was well impressed with the way in which the lecturer delivered his address. The friendly attitude of the people in attendance and the appearance of well-being which they expressed added to my conviction that Christian Science must be a beneficial religion.
As I began the earnest study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I found that such traits of character as resentment of circumstances, ridicule of others, ill temper, and use of profanity dropped off. The cigarette habit was overcome, as was the drinking habit. I learned the wisdom of Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 323), "Through the wholesome chastisements of Love, we are helped onward in the march towards righteousness, peace, and purity, which are the landmarks of Science."
