My gratitude to God is very...

My gratitude to God is very great for our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who so selflessly bestowed on mankind her revelation of God's ever-presence. She explains this ever-presence very simply on page 473 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The God-principle is omnipresent and omnipotent. God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power." This statement, studied and pondered, has solved for me pressing problems and will do so for anyone.

My introduction to Christian Science came at a time when I was desperately trying to help my husband in his plight of broken health. With his consent I went to a consecrated practitioner who explained Christian Science to me for the first time. He agreed to pray for my husband, and he advised me to get a copy of Science and Health at a Reading Room. He recommended that I memorize "the scientific statement of being" on page 468. On reaching home I began reading the textbook, and I did not stop for twelve hours, for I was searching very earnestly for aid in this extremity. On the third day I finished reading the textbook, and in a week my husband went back to his daily activity.

As for me, "the scientific statement of being" so revolutionized my thinking that I emptied my medicine chest of all the bottles and boxes of material aid I had depended on for gall-bladder trouble, constipation, migraine, and other ills. I took my stand for spiritual deliverance and looked only to God for relief. I do not remember when these ailments dropped away, but it was more than twenty-seven years ago; and I have enjoyed sound health ever since.

All this has led to the blessing of membership in The Mother Church, branch church activity, and class instruction. Every day proves to me what we read in the Bible (Ps. 69:30): "I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving." I am humbly and increasingly grateful for the Christ, Truth, which I have found through my study of Christian Science and for every opportunity to serve our great movement, which is helping all mankind.—(Mrs.) Susan L.
