RESURRECTION LIGHT

Before coming to Christian Science one perhaps believed that Jesus' resurrection was an experience shared only by him and a few faithful followers. But Christian Science teaches us the wider application of Scriptural truth so that the resurrection, as surely as other great spiritual events recorded in the Bible, is taken out of the limitations of time and found to be applicable to humanity in every age.

The divine Spirit, which manifests eternal life, requires to be understood in order to release mankind from beliefs of mortality and death. Jesus is our Way-shower. He was the Way-shower also to the faithful few who heard his words and who witnessed his works of healing. They saw the sinners healed, the dying raised to life, and the laws of physical causation annulled by the Christ-power.

The kingdom of heaven had come to the disciples through Christ Jesus, but others believed he had come to rule in a temporal kingdom to destroy the oppressive yoke of Rome. This was not God's way of redemption. The beliefs of the carnal mind must be destroyed before spiritual regeneration could take place. Each one has his part in this resurrection, and the Master said plainly that it was only through taking up the cross as he had done that we could be recipients of the crown. The resurrection was not confined to one morning in the calendar or to one group of disciples, but it applies to every age and to all who put off the material sense of life and adopt the spiritual.
