As a child I expected the Bible to be made practical, teaching us to heal the way Jesus did. However, I saw no evidence of this healing being done. A number of years later I was so discouraged that it seemed useless to go on living. One day I heard someone say she was being healed through an understanding of the Bible. Desiring more information on the subject, I attended a meeting of a small group of Christian Scientists. I could not understand much of the healing method of which they spoke, but as long as I saw that the Bible was really being made practical I was satisfied. Some time afterward a course in English was organized to help the group understand Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy; for at that time we did not have a translation of the textbook.

Many problems were solved through the application of Truth; and I went to America and had class instruction. Experiences of healing have been too numerous to relate in this testimony. After struggling unsuccessfully for about ten days with erysipelas, I turned my thought to the welfare of others. That same night the erysipelas was entirely healed.

At one time I was without work for several weeks. When I was left with only a five-dollar bill and a bit of change I thought, "Well, now, error is not going to get it all!" I went to a Reading Room and bought a Concordance to Science and Health and a copy of The Christian Science Monitor. In the Monitor I found an advertisement of a position which would answer my need. I made application for it and obtained it. It was wonderful to think that I had been led to buy the very issue of the Monitor which would supply my need.
