BEHOLDING THE CHRIST

Christ Jesus set forth the spiritual facts of existence in simple language. He said that eternal life is to know God and to understand the Christ which Jesus presented. This true and new sense of life appears in our experience as we feel the power and presence of the Christ. Then the heavy burdens of material thinking are eliminated from our experience. Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" gives us this definition of "Christ" (p. 583): "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."

One must look to God, the Giver of all good, for a solution to all problems. The Christ, Truth, shows us the way through Christian Science. We experience rejoicing and freedom as we come to know our true self as the son of God, and as we gain the glorious realization that God made man to have dominion over all.

Whether our problem seems large or small, one of long duration, or of sin, disease, sorrow, lack, or human relationships, deliverance from error is at hand. Christ Jesus looked to God, divine Love, as the only deliverer. He knew his Father-Mother God as unchanging divine Principle, as an ever-present help, as invariable Love. The Master looked to the great spiritual facts of life in order to accomplish his healings. We read in Science and Health (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."
