"Ye are my witnesses, saith the...
"Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen" (Isa. 43:10). A dictionary defines the word "witness" in part as "one who testifies in a cause." Therefore I wish to testify to the truth of Christian Science as witnessed in my own experiences. Some years ago a severe heart condition laid me low. I was confined to bed, unable to move, and in great distress. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and through her faithful work I was soon able to be up. In two weeks I returned to the office healed. This experience was a wonderful proof to me of God's presence and power to heal. Since my healing, I have been able to engage in all necessary activities and have had the privilege of serving in various kinds of church work. For these opportunities and blessings, I am most grateful.
Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in Science and Health (p. 128): "The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man. From this it follows that business men and cultured scholars have found that Christian Science enhances their endurance and mental powers, enlarges their perception of character, gives them acuteness and comprehensiveness and an ability to exceed their ordinary capacity." This statement I have found to be true.
When my wife and I were quite new in Christian Science, we were spending our vacation in a log cabin in the Adirondack Mountains, where there were no other people within some miles of us. One day my wife turned her ankle and was unable to walk. I carried her to a chair, and we both declared the truth regarding the perfection of God and of man made in His image and likeness. We likewise affirmed that there are no accidents in God's kingdom. In a few minutes my wife said, "I am all right now," and she arose from the chair.
