My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came at the outset of my teaching career. I can never be sufficiently grateful for the unfoldment of good and for the innumerable proofs of God's care which have occurred in the intervening years. The first healing I had from the reading of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, came within a few days of my first visit to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I was thrown from the platform of a streetcar into the path of a rapidly approaching automobile. I was protected from being struck by the car, and my only injury was a badly sprained ankle.

Early the following morning, while in severe pain, I reached out to God for help and opened Science and Health at page 282, where I read, "Whatever indicates the fall of man or the opposite of God or God's absence, is the Adam-dream, which is neither Mind nor man, for it is not begotten of the Father." I pondered this arresting statement. Then I arose and dressed, feeling completely free. The same evening I attended a dance and was able to participate fully.

Throughout World War II, when I was with evacuee school children, I had numerous proofs that man is in reality a spiritual being, living in the atmosphere of divine Love, and that home is wherever Love and Principle are gratefully acknowledged as supreme. More recently I was led to relinquish glasses, to which I had been in bondage for over thirty years. Truly Christian Science brings us into man's God-given freedom.
