While visiting friends, I began to...

While visiting friends, I began to feel quite uncomfortable, and in a few minutes I collapsed. It was suggested that a physician be called, because to mortal sense I was obviously in need of immediate assistance. However, I requested my hostess to call a Christian Science practitioner, whose name I gave her. She telephoned the practitioner, and he indicated to her that he would take up prayerful work right away. In about ten minutes the extreme indisposition left me, and I was completely healed. This healing proved to me that the absence of personal contact between the practitioner and the patient is no obstacle to the healing power of Christian Science.

More recently I received a sharp blow on a sensitive spot on my elbow, and my arm became temporarily paralyzed. The paralysis and accompanying pain were quite short-lived, and I gave no further thought to the happening. Several hours later I began to suffer from a very severe pain in my hand. I tried to know the truth, but the pain persisted. I then telephoned a practitioner, who agreed to assist me. The healing was accomplished shortly, and once again I was free. These two incidents make in clear that, as is stated in the Bible (Hebr. 4:12), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword."

I am sincerely grateful to God for the continual protection I have enjoyed in times of peril, to Christ Jesus for demonstrating the power of God to overcome all discord, and to Mary Baker Eddy, whose consecration and inspiration have given us Christian Science. I am also most thankful to the unselfish practitioners, who are always available when assistance is sought.—John G. Foster, New York, New York.
