Signs of the Times

From an editorial in the Dayton Journal Herald, Ohio

Is there no peace? No security? Must we forever seek for that which may be snatched away from us? The Scriptures tell us otherwise. For instance, Jesus of Nazareth said to his followers: "My peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." ...

What is this peace which the world does not give? ... We can give this peace by contemplating His wonders as we go about our daily tasks. We can stay our minds on God by holding to some Scriptural passage such as "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." We can stay our minds on God by quietly sitting and asking that He take over, that He make Himself known to us. Peace will come in answer to such contemplation as this—a deep peace which the storms of the world cannot touch.
