Many times I have made the...

Many times I have made the statement, "I was born in Christian Science," without realizing the error of expression. I am beginning to see that my birth into Science began only after I was wakened to the necessity to make some effort myself to demonstrate the Christ, Truth. This birth goes on daily. As our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in her article entitled "The New Birth" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 15), "Time may commence, but it cannot complete, the new birth: eternity does this; for progress is the law of infinity."

I have experienced a number of physical healings, among them those of mumps, measles, headaches, and the effects of accidents. Grief had to be overcome when I received a cable telling me of the passing of my father. At that time I was serving as First Reader in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. As a proof of the Scriptural promise (Isa. 65:24), "Before they call, I will answer," I had been led, before the receipt of the message, to prepare for the Wednesday testimony meeting a reading on the subject of "Life Eternal." I gave this reading the next evening with perfect freedom, sustained by the consciousness of Life's ever-presence. This freedom from grief had remained with me.

One of the outstanding healings in my experience was deliverance from a threatened miscarriage. Five months before the birth of our son, my husband and I took a long and rather tiring trip to the home of my mother. Disturbing evidence of miscarriage presented itself, and both my husband and I became much alarmed. We were a very frightened couple when we were greeted by my mother. She immediately saw our great concern and inquired about it. She was given the entire account, and I ended with the statement, "I'm losing my baby."
