Signs of the Times

From an editorial in the Journal Herald Dayton, Ohio

We seek peace of mind .... Peace comes only with our realization of the presence of God. If ... we are eager for this peace, ready to lay down our ways of life to attain this peace, how may we procure it? Prayer is the answer. Not the prayer that beseeches: "Do this and that for me. Give me this possession and that treasure." But rather the prayer whose approach is: "Father, all else but Thy kingdom, Thy substance, Thy self is becoming worthless to me .... Show me the Truth."

Should such prayer as this be honest enough, and presented often enough, it will be answered with peace of heart and mind. Jesus of Nazareth indicated that this state of tranquillity is obtainable, saying, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you."
