It is with sincere gratitude that I offer this testimony of the power of God to heal. I first felt this power about thirteen years ago when I was suffering from a condition which a doctor had diagnosed as colitis. I had done everything he had recommended to cure it, but with no improvement. He requested that I go to a hospital, more for observation by the doctors than with the hope that I could be cured.

My mother, who had studied Christian Science for some time, suggested that I visit a Christian Science practitioner, saying that at least this would do me no harm. I did so, and I told the practitioner how I felt about God at that time: that I thought He was only the manufacture of people's wishful thinking in their desire to worship something and to comfort themselves with the expectation of life after death.

She lovingly assured me that God is very real, and she gave me the first satisfactory explanation of Deity that I had heard. I then requested treatment in Christian Science, which was lovingly given. Within two weeks I was completely free, and I have had no return of the difficulty.
