Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Torrington, Connecticut (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Torrington, will hold its dedication services in the church edifice at 68 Wilson Avenue, Sunday at 11 a.m and 3.30 p.m.

About 1912 a small group of persons interested in the study of Christian Science held informal gatherings in private homes on Wednesday evenings to read the authorized Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly. On October 12, 1920, the first Christian Science lecture was given in Torrington under the auspices of the Christian Science Society, Winsted. It was then decided to hold meetings on Wednesday evenings in the Masonic Hall, Torrington, during the months of November and December.
