It is with a heart full of gratitude...

It is with a heart full of gratitude that I write this testimony, hoping it may help those who read it as much as I have been helped by reading the testimonies of others. When I came into Christian Science many years ago, it was not especially to be healed of anything. However, as a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, in Java, I served in divers activities, and my duties, particularly as Second Reader, helped me to overcome many of the difficulties in my life. One of those difficulties was grief at the loss of a dear one. Forgetting myself in the endeavor to express love to my fellow man, I received love in return, and grief was dispelled.

Another problem to be overcome was that of loneliness. I had to realize that we must rely on God, our Father-Mother, for our completeness. As I stood alone with God, I was freed, and I have never had any sense of loneliness since. Oneness, or unity, with God is the greatest treasure one can have.

During the Second World War, I had to live in a foreign country, where it was not possible to receive any money from abroad. I saw that God was helping me and that my supply would come through my knowing that He maintains His idea, man. In Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy is the following statement (p. 151): "The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness." When this truth was thoroughly understood and held to, I always had enough money to live on.
