I began the study of Christian Science many years ago as the result of the healing of my mother through Christian Science treatment. My parents and other near relatives were religiously inclined and believed in God as an ever-present help, but much sickness and discord were constantly with us. When Christian Science was called to our attention, my mother was having daily treatments from a physician in order to be prepared for surgery because of a tumor and other difficulties, and I was ill with a chronic bronchial difficulty, an ailment I had had since I was two years of age.

A Christian Science practitioner who was visiting her mother across the street from us was aware of our plight and told me of the healing power of her religion. Her kindness and her statements about Christian Science so impressed me that I repeated her words to my mother, who then asked for treatment and was completely healed within three days. That was the beginning of our large family's turning to Christian Science.

My own physical problem was slower to yield to the loving ministrations of Truth. Much prayerful work was done, which brought relief, but not complete healing. One night while I was suffering grievously, it came to me suddenly in a new light that God is All. "Why, if God is All," I said to myself, "that means All." The truth was so simple and so clear that healing came quickly.
