The first public services of this church were conducted in the Masonic Hall during September, 1929, and a Sunday School was than organized. In March, 1927, Christian Science Society, Montrose, became a recognized branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The following year a Reading Room was established. ...

The steady growth of the congregation necessitated a move to larger quarters, and in 1931 the place of meeting was changed to the La Cañada Thursday Clubhouse. At this time the society became First Church of Christ, Scientist, La Cañada. During 1940, the church was strengthened by a merger with Christian Science Society, La Crescenta.

The present building site was purchased in 1944, and actual building began in October, 1948. It was completed for the first services on May 22, 1949. ...
