RESURRECTION

Before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead he said to Martha (John 11:25), "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."

To a Christian Scientist, resurrection demands the rising out of mortal conditions through the understanding of true selfhood, made in the image and likeness of God. On page 593 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy defines "resurrection" thus: "Spiritualization of thought; a new and higher idea of immortality, or spiritual existence; material belief yielding to spiritual understanding."

To study and demonstrate the truths of Christian Science is to be resurrected from mortal sense into immortal or spiritual sense, This means that by constant self-denial, unceasing vigilance, and perpetual prayer—the prayer of right living —and overcoming evil with good we may perfect our resurrection.
