When Christian Science was first...
When Christian Science was first introduced to me I was suffering from a severe nervous condition accompanied by almost unbearable headaches. My brother, who had just become interested in Christian Science, asked me if I would read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I replied, "Yes, but you can't tell me, after all I have tried, that I can be healed by just reading a textbook." When just halfway through Science and Health I discovered that I was completely healed.
Since that time I have experienced many wonderful healings through Science and witnessed many others in my family. One healing that comes to my thought took place more than thirty years ago. I had walked the floor for two nights because of sinus trouble. A Christian Science practitioner was asked to give treatment, and the healing was instantaneous and permanent.
Our son was born with an ugly purple birthmark that ran the length of his ear. When he was eighteen months old his seven-year-old sister became much disturbed about this. As she attended a Christian Science Sunday School and her thought was receptive to the truth, I said to her, "If we could clearly see that God's child is without a blemish, that mark would not be there." Some time later we discovered that it had disappeared.
