Trust in the Lord with all thine...

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding" (Prov. 3:5). I was led to Christian Science about thirty years ago when I was suffering from a condition which I feared might be cancer. In a mood of considerable scoffing at what I believed Christian Science to be I visited a practitioner. She corrected this mood with the love that she reflected, and her treatment healed my suffering. When I went back to her later to find out what had healed me, she explained the use of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in the reading of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly.

I then went to live in a small town in Mexico and did not meet another Christian Scientist for a long time. However, I read the authorized periodicals hungrily, and they, added to my faithful daily reading of the lessons, kept me well, for I do not recall any physical ailments during those years. Christian Science has been the only remedy I have used since my first healing, and it has never failed when prayerfully applied.

In a case of lack of supply I depended upon a mortal, instead of God, and resented his failure to supply me with this world's goods. My resentment resulted in a condition that finally put me to bed in a state of unconsciousness. A relative who was not in sympathy with Christian Science called in a doctor, who said that I could not live for more than a few hours. The doctor did not take the case, and a Christian Science practitioner was called. Consciousness was regained in a short time, and my suffering was eased. After a period of eighteen days, in which my bowels had not functioned, the practitioner's work brought a normal action. The complete healing occurred about four years ago, and it has been permanent.
