Some years ago I found myself sitting on a park bench in a city in one of our western states, sick and without home, friends, or funds. While I was sitting there feeling sorry for myself the thought came to me, I wonder if knowing something of God would help me out of this trouble.

The thought that God might help me led me to Christian Science. I found it "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1), for I was healed at that time of a tubercular trouble and later of rheumatism. My testimony of thanks for these healings appealed in the Sentinel of September 29, 1934. I desire at this time to give further thanks to God for many added blessings received through the intervening years. These blessings include a pleasant home, loving friends, and adequate supply.

About ten years ago I suffered a general breakdown, which brought on an abnormal heart action. I knew that Christian Science was the only thing that could heal me, and I turned to it completely. The healing was slow. I had some help from Christian Science practitioners at different times, but the condition did not improve. Finally a practitioner lovingly told me that he thought I could work out the problem for myself. From then on I worked alone with God, and the healing came in about four months.
